🤝 Quality training takes great partners!

For the past several Basic Academy cycles, Doll Distributing - Des Moines has generously supported our SFST wet lab training by providing alcohol and Uber rides for participants. This support allows recruits to practice their skills with live participants and observe the clues they are trained to recognize during impaired driving investigations.

Partnerships like this help us create realistic, meaningful training experiences that better prepare our recruits for the field.

Thank you, Doll Distributing - Des moines, for your continued support of ILEA and the next generation of Iowa law enforcement professionals! 🚔 👏

Week 5 = Leadership Challenge! đź’Ş

This week, recruits put leadership into action as they took on a series of physical and mental challenges led by their class leadership candidates. Success required strategy, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.

As the weeks progress, training continues to become more complex, and so do the knowledge, skills, and confidence of our recruits. 🚔💪

Hands-on training creates confident officers! đź’Ş

From Tac Med practicals and Domestic Violence scenarios to Defensive Tactics, our recruits spent week 4 on the move, applying and practicing critical skills.

Gone are the days of traditional lecture-heavy classroom instruction. Law enforcement is a hands-on career, and the structure of our training program reflects just that. Each cycle, we strive to find more and more opportunities to implement practical skills exercises. đźš”

Classes 329–330 wrapped up another productive week of training! 👏

Recruits tackled more PT sessions, covered a variety of classroom topics, completed their first multi-topic exam, and finished the week with some dry fire drills on the range.

They’re working hard to gain the knowledge and discipline necessary for the weeks ahead!

Week 1 is in the books for Classes 329–330! 💪

The first week of the Academy can be one of the toughest. Recruits are learning to navigate Academy procedures and expectations, adjusting to the physical and mental demands of training, doing it all while being away from their support systems.

But they aren’t doing it alone.

From day one, our instructors and support staff are committed to setting high expectations and professional standards while providing the patience, guidance, and support recruits need to meet them. Every recruit arrives with a different level of experience. Some begin their Academy journey on their very first day of employment, while others arrive with months of experience in the field. Regardless of where they start, the end goal remains the same...highly skilled, competent, and professional certified law enforcement professionals who serve and protect their communities.

The dedication of our instructors, combined with the determination and resilience of our recruits, is what makes this process so meaningful. It’s a collective commitment toward excellence, and we are here for it.

One week down. Many more challenges, lessons, and accomplishments ahead.

“Any meaningful pursuit is going to be HARD!”
