SCEMD hosted the State Emergency Response Team’s fall workshop, bringing partners together for a tabletop exercise focused on winter weather preparedness.
During the exercise, agencies walked through a simulated winter weather event in South Carolina and discussed how they would respond before, during and after the storm. These discussions help partners coordinate their efforts, strengthen emergency plans and prepare to protect lives and property across the state.

Don’t leave your furry friends out of your emergency plan!
Your pets depend on you to be prepared. Make sure you have a plan for where they’ll go, what they’ll need and how you’ll safely transport them if an emergency means you need to leave home.
Keep a recent photo of you with your pet. It can help prove ownership and assist with identification if you become separated.

Unfortunately, spooky decoration don't scare away severe weather hazards. If severe weather is forecasted, prepare your home by putting away any items that the wind could pick up. Remember, if you can smash that pumpkin, the wind can too!
