I love this! The Port of Vancouver USA is a wonderful example of how economic development and environmental stewardship can work hand-in-hand, and this story is a literal example of the interplay.

In late May, a swarm of honeybees congregated on a stack of rebar in the dock construction staging area around lunchtime. Julie Schott-Rawls is one of a kind, and this is a fantastic tribute to her stellar work at the Port. Congratulations on your retirement, Julie, and thanks for all you do and have done! Even though we are only barely overlapping in our Port timelines, I'm so grateful to have had the chance to know and work with you in other ways over the years!

The No. 1 comment Julie Rawls heard when she wrapped up a tour of the Port of Vancouver: “I had no idea.”

The current in water work window for the dock replacement at Terminal 1 ends in a few days but crews have already completed installation of the 198 new steel piles.

Overwater work will continue this year to include pile cap reinforced concrete, precast panel placement and concrete deck work. Non-structural fender piles for vessel docking will be installed in the next in water work window.

We are excited to be another step closer to realizing the public market.
