Across the Western Region, Claytor Lake has officially reached peak color, glowing with brilliant reds, golds, oranges and deep purples. Fairy Stone is close behind, nearing peak with vibrant amber, gold and crimson tones.
Hungry Mother, Natural Tunnel, Smith Mountain Lake and Hayfields state parks are all showcasing excellent displays of reds, oranges and yellows, while Clinch River remains near peak. Grayson Highlands has moved beyond peak with mostly brown and rust hues, and Southwest Virginia Museum is just beginning to develop stronger autumn color.
In Northern Virginia, foliage continues to intensify. Seven Bends, Shenandoah River, Sweet Run and Sky Meadows are all expanding into rich reds, yellows, oranges and golds, while Lake Anna is showing beautiful early-to-mid‑season color.
Across the Central Region, color is steadily progressing. Bear Creek Lake is nearing peak with vibrant lakeside reflections. James River is lined with bright seasonal color, and Occoneechee continues to show increasing color near the water. Staunton River Battlefield, meanwhile, remains mostly green with scattered yellow highlights.
Along the Coastal Region, Westmoreland, York River and Belle Isle are all seeing growing color changes — especially near waterways and trails — though peak color is still developing across most coastal parks.
