Excited to see this feature on BridalMusings today!

Such an amazing team that came together that day to make it happen! Thank you!

Why? First, let’s consider how many chic bridal designers and bridal salons call the Lowcountry gem home. Brides shopping for their dream dress walk the charming cobblestone streets to trendsetting favorites, Maddison Row South and Lovely Bride. Or, why not go custom visiting couture designers lik...

Doing things out of the box: kind of exciting, kind of terrifying, a little bit crazy, and mostly always pays off. Maybe not how we initially think it will--more clients, more time, more money--but energy spent moving forward is never wasted. Because if we go into it believing we just might maybe experience something new, chances are we'll learn something new about OURSELVES...and when has that ever been a bad thing? Doing something out of the box might result in a lightbulb moment about how to do things long term, or we might just discover that we've been dreaming too small. It might compel us to knock on more doors and break down more walls, and I think we could all use a little more of that.

P.S. I love this shot from a project we shot back in May...more to come!

Transition is not a very glamorous thing to talk about. There's usually a lot of work (A LOT!!) going on behind the scenes that's making all the wheels turn and road at least stay partially smooth. It can be a tough thing to navigate, mostly because just the thought of change makes us uncomfortable! I certainly felt all of those things and more when I started transitioning towards more strictly styling + creative directing projects and planning less weddings. But man, just by putting one foot in front of the other...the hard work totally pays off!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What I always try to encourage my 1:1 clients: you do have to put in the hard work. Something amazing happens when we do it, when we realize our dreams require that transition or pivot to get to the next level. Not always comfortable, not always easy, not always glamorous! But definitely worth it, friends.

I don't like to talk about it much but even though I own this company that travels everywhere (we are so thankful to you friends for that!) and does editorials for companies all over the united states, I actually live in the middle of nowhere. People constantly ask my why we moved back here since it's really a bad place for my kind of work and I tell them it's for family.
Which is totally true! But what I really don't say is that, underneath it all, I am a valley girl at heart. I won't admit that I love this area. I love the people here. I love the early sunrise off the sierras and the late evening inland breeze that rushes across the golden valley floor and plays with your hair. I love sitting on my porch after the sun has set to watch dusk slowly creep in as the wind sways the trees. I love that I can get to Yosemite in just over an hour, Or head to the beach in 2 or pop into San francisco, Napa for the day. It's a love hate relationship when the summer comes and it's 110 degrees for days on end but I was born here and like it or not, I am a California valley girl through and through. I was taught to work and work hard and I love living among the makers and doers of California.

Who else is doing creative work from a town that doesn't have much of a creative industry in it? I want to meet you! Tag them or drop a comment below. I would love to hear how you have built your communities.

Morning lovies!
I am looking for local videographers in the good old central California (Fresno, Clovis, Modesto) area for an upcoming personal project.

Who wants to come over and shoot a video with me and these two babes in it? They are not so small anymore but they are just as cute as ever.

Tag anyone below who might be local to the area please! I am a valley girl, born and bread and proud of it! Are there any other valley girls (guys) out there?

"To attain knowledge, add things every day. To attain wisdom, subtract things every day." -Lao-Tzu

Still thinking over two key conversations yesterday, one with one of my mentors and another with the refreshing .
One thing that stood out to me in both conversations was the active discipline of saying, "No." Both of these powerful, inspiring, amazing business owners encouraged saying no, simplifying your services, and making sure your yes is always the best YES.

In this world, we applaud hustle and activities and lots of doing which requires a lot of saying yes, when in fact, the no's, the active listening, the journaling to find yourself and your purpose is so much more powerful than the frenetic yes. I, for one, hate sitting still and listening. I'm a doer and maker so school was never my passion.
But I'm learning as I get older and hopefully more wiser, at least I have the gray hairs to prove it, that my best work is produced when I not rushed and I have waited for it to be my best YES!
