Your Screven County Gamecock Marching Band completed the "Superior Sweep" and took home another Best in Class trophy with Saturday's Superior-rated performance at the East Georgia Marching Championships in Statesboro. The band earned Superior ratings from every judge in every caption, won Best in Class Band, Best in Class Color Guard, 2nd place Drum Major, and 3rd place Percussion.

The band's score on Saturday was a 90.0, anything above an 85 is really good; a 90 is exceptional.

The Superior Sweep: three competitions, three Straight Superior ratings -- and two Best in Class trophies!

Be sure to stay in your seat at halftime on Friday night to catch their Senior Night performance!

Congratulations to our talented Screven County Middle School STEAM students for earning 17 regional honors and more than $250 in cash prizes at this year's Kiwanis Ogeechee Fair!

A total of 38 students proudly represented SCMS, showcasing their creativity and artistic talents in watercolor, fine arts drawing, and two-dimensional art. Several students earned recognition in multiple categories!

We are incredibly proud of these young artists for their hard work, imagination, and outstanding accomplishments!

A special thank-you to the Kiwanis Ogeechee Fair for providing this wonderful opportunity for our students to share their talents with the community.

Please see the following message from Superintendent Dr. Jim Thompson:
This morning, an individual used social media to make a threat towards Screven County High School. Law enforcement was notified and quickly investigated the situation along with our school administrators. Law enforcement has taken the individual who made the threat into custody. All of our schools are safe and operating normally. I appreciate the quick response from our local law enforcement, which led to a safe, quick resolution.

Our 8th grade Georgia History students took learning on the move with a Geography Gallery Walk! Students traveled through the hallway, exploring posters about Georgia's five geographic regions and physical features while completing their own Geography Passports.
This hands-on activity helped students bring Georgia's geography to life while practicing important writing skills. Students gathered information, organized their thoughts, and put their learning into writing - all while staying active and engaged!
Great job!
