Happy Halloween from your Alaska State Troopers. Here are some tips to make sure you and your family are staying safe while trick-or-treating.
1. Wear reflective clothing or carry a glow stick and stay in well-lit areas, this makes it easier for drivers to spot you as you are walking along roadways.
2. Make sure kids are with a responsible adult when they are out trick-or-treating.
3. Winter weather is setting in across the state, so make sure you and your kids are wearing appropriate clothing.
4. Drive slowly in neighborhoods, there will be lots of people walking and they may be hard to spot in the dark.
5. If you aren't sober, don't get behind the wheel and have a plan for how to get home safely.

Happy National First Responders Day! For the Alaska State Troopers, responding to situations across Alaska is more than a job; it's a commitment to protecting our most remote communities, navigating challenging terrain, and ensuring justice, no matter how far off the road system. Today, we honor the selfless service of our Troopers and all first responders who rush to respond when people are in need. Thank you for your bravery and dedication to the people of Alaska.

Halloween might be just around the corner, but winter is here to stay across Alaska. Much of the state is experiencing heavy snowfall, causing difficult driving conditions, especially on the Parks Highway near Cantwell. Please drive with caution, use headlights, allow for extra time to reach your destination, and move over or slow down for all emergency and road maintenance vehicles.

Friday morning, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a duck hunter stuck waist deep in the mud, near Cottonwood Creek, on the Palmer Hay Flats. Mat-Su Borough Emergency Services, assisted by Wildlife and Patrol Troopers, were able to extract the hunter from the mud, using an air compressor, body boards, straps, and a lot of elbow grease.
