The Borough would like to thank everyone who has expressed concern and offered to make monetary donations or actual donations of flags.
At no time did Council indicate we were not going to have flags installed this year or that replacements would not be purchased. After no accounting could be made as to the existing number or condition of the Borough flags during the June 2 meeting, it was noted that there was an issue and it was addressed.
The Borough placed an order for both replacement flags as well as additional poles on Wednesday, June 3. The orders were submitted before the social media post was made.
These orders have started to arrive this weekend and flags will be installed as soon as possible. Rest assured that Borough residents and visitors to Hop Bottom will see flags in place this summer as we have for all years in recent memory.
I have turned off commenting on this post, as I do not feel it is appropriate to govern via social media.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to me; or come to one of our monthly council meetings. Meetings are held the first Tuesday each month starting at 7:00pm at the Borough Building at 20 Forest St.
In closing I would like to apologize to residents for there being no flags in place for Memorial Day. Assumptions were made that proved to be false – I take responsibility for that. It will not happen in the future.
