31 years of service. A lifetime of impact. A legacy that will never be forgotten.
On October 29, 2026, Chief Stanley worked his final shift, closing a remarkable 31-year career serving Salt Lake City and Lehi City.
Over those years, he wore many titles. Firefighter. Engineer. Captain. Battalion Chief. But no title could ever tell the whole story of the man behind it.
He was a mentor, a father, a friend, and a leader who always showed up for his people.
Chief Stanley was the kind of man who brought calm to chaos. The kind of chief you would follow into any burning building, because you knew he would never ask you to go somewhere he wouldn’t go himself.
At his retirement, one person after another stood to share stories of gratitude and lives changed. Perhaps that says more about his career than any rank or award ever could.
Because the measure of a great leader isn’t simply what he accomplishes. It’s the people he leaves better than he found them.
And Chief Stanley did that for all of us.
For the first time in 31 years, the fire service carries on without Chief Stanley on duty. The calls keep coming, the trucks keep rolling, but his absence is felt. His kindness, wisdom, and steady presence have become part of the very fabric of this department.
While it’s hard to imagine the firehouse without him, we couldn’t be more excited for the life waiting beyond its doors.
Chief Stanley leaves behind far more than big boots to fill. He leaves a legacy of compassion, humility, courage, and what it truly means to be a firefighter.
He didn’t just teach us how to be better firefighters. He showed us how to be better people.
Chief, we’ll miss your steady presence and knowing you were just a radio call away. Wherever life takes you, you’ll always have a home here.
We love you, Chief Stanley. Thank you will never feel like enough.
Enjoy your well-earned retirement, Chief. We’ll take it from here.
