Sen. Spiros Mantzavinos and I attended the Kirkwood Gardens Civic Association meeting and had a great discussion with residents about several community updates.

We discussed plans to redo the community entrance sign, along with installing a new sign near Milltown Road. We also provided an update on Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) snow reimbursement program, shared information about past and upcoming community events, and discussed several pieces of legislation.

Thank you to the Kirkwood Gardens Civic Association for taking the time to meet with us and for your continued involvement in the community. Staying connected and hearing directly from residents is so important!

We are excited to share our upcoming Mobile Food Bank of Delaware event!

I want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the Food Bank of Delaware for their continued partnership year after year. Their commitment to our community and their dedication to helping families in need make such a difference.

A special thank-you to Amazon.com's Boxwood Road facility for generously donating the turkeys and helping make this event possible.

It takes community partnerships to make a meaningful impact, and I am grateful to everyone who continues to step up and support our neighbors.

Sen. Spiros Mantzavinos and I attended Hyde Park and Faulkland Heights Civic Associations meetings. Then, I volunteered at the Just Mentoring Guest Bartender fundraiser to support my constituents Vic and Lanie Leonard, bartended along with Senator Nicole Poore. It was great seeing so many friends and constituents at this event.

For several years, the Red Clay School District has run a Bus Arm Camera Pilot Program, a bill that Senator Jack Walsh and I sponsored, to hold drivers accountable for illegally passing stopped school buses while children board or exit. Now, I’m working with the Delaware Department of Safety and Homeland Security, the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) Division of Motor Vehicles, the Delaware Department of Education (DDOE) and the Red Clay School District to develop legislation that would expand the program to all schools in Delaware.

Across the country and in our state, we’ve seen heartbreaking stories of children being struck by vehicles while getting on or off their school buses. Our kids deserve to be safe. By expanding this program statewide we can hold drivers accountable and make our roads safer for all.

My husband and I had the opportunity to visit The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall while it was on display at Delaware Park. The wall is a three-fifths-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Seeing the names of so many brave men and women who served our country was incredibly moving. It is heartbreaking to think that many of these heroes were just 18 years old or younger, with the youngest being only 15.

It is difficult to put into words the emotions you feel standing before the wall and reflecting on the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the sacrifices made in service to our country.

May we always remember and honor those who served, those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and the families who carry their memories in their hearts. 🇺🇸

There are three sets of fathers and sons on the Wall. 39,996 on the Wall were just 22 or younger. 8,283 were just 19 years old. The largest age group, 33,103 were 18 years old. 12 soldiers on the Wall were 17 years old. 5 soldiers on the Wall were 16 years old. One soldier, PFC Dan Bullock, was 15 years old. 997 soldiers were killed on their first day in Vietnam ..

1,448 soldiers were killed on their last day in Vietnam. 31 sets of brothers are on the Wall. 31 sets of parents lost two of their sons.

8 Women are on the Wall. Nursing the wounded.

244 soldiers were awarded the Medal of Honor during the Vietnam War; 153 of them are on the wall.
