For part of our final act we’d like to share photos from our final “Recognition Dinner” that we hosted at the end of April. This was a tradition that we had built over the last few years to make sure we came together as a family, to reflect on the past years accomplishments, promotions, and retirements. To all who were a part of ECCFPD, Thank you for the memories.

We got this note from Lindsey Turkov regarding a friend of hers that was injured on Sunday after a horse accident.

“Hello! I wanted to send this message to thank the first responders and fire fighters who assisted my friend after a horse riding accident at Round Valley on Sunday morning. She was treated with a broken femur on the trail in the narrow canyon about a mile from the parking lot. Carried out on the off-road stretcher and carried by helicopter to John Muir in Walnut Creek. I stayed with her until help arrived and our other friend was able to get all three horses back safely. Thank you so much for all of your kindness, professionalism, and attentiveness. We are so very grateful for the help and assistance. She was released from the hospital tonight after surgery yesterday. She will be ok. Take care and thank you again for all that you do. Appreciate you!!

We hope you have an good day today and can laugh at what the world throws your way.

This was one of the worst calls our firefighters to respond to last year. No kid should suffer a lifetime impairment because of fireworks. We hope for the kids heal and recover the best they can.
We would like to ask those planning on playing with fireworks to think about the message that they are sending to their children. Kids are curious and want to do what you do. Please be a responsible parent and take your kids to a professional fireworks show. Set a good example.

Station 95 is already paying dividends.

Yesterday Engine 95 responded to it’s first working-structure fire in the city of off of Main St. and Laurel Rd. Engine 95 arrived at the incident 2nd and immediately assisted the 1st engine with water supply and a 2nd interior hose line working to extinguish the fire. When you consider that fire size doubles every 60 seconds; Engine 95 arriving quickly and assisting the first engine company makes an absolute difference in rescuing potential victims as well as saving property. For context, Engine 88 responding from Antioch arrived 3 minutes behind Engine 95 and 6 minutes into operations. When seconds count the new addition of Engine 95 is priceless and come July 1 when officially joins forces with East Contra Costa County Fire our communities can look forward to an improved Fire District with more sufficient resources and better operational continuity.

Father Robert’s travels: This week ECCFPD Chaplain Father Robert found himself on the Hawaiian island of Kauai. He was there to renew the vows of retired Captain Craig Gjerman and his wife Debbie. It is their 25th wedding anniversary.

Thank you Father Robert for going above and beyond as a Chaplain for all of our members. Although going to Hawaii doesn’t seem like hard work.

Happy 25th Anniversary Craig and Debbie!

We hope Father Robert gets some well needed R&R as well.

Good new everyone. Vasco Road has reopened as of 18:48(6:48pm). The fire is contained and mostly mopped up at 50 acres.
