The command is "Eyes, RIGHT" and that means heads are turned, colors are dipped, and rifles remain at the outboard shoulder. There should be one unut color unless two units are represented, which could be a caveat for USNSCC. For Marine Corps, Navy, and Coast Guard color guards, state colors are not authorized to be carried but the Guam and Puerto Rico territory colors are authorized since they are considered states at the international protocol level. Rifles need slings.
Many guards will use this technique for their hands.
👉The left hand is NEVER flared. It wraps around the upper hand guard with the pinky should be on the same line is the metal of the upper receiver.
👉The right hand is difficult. The wrist is not supposed to be behind the rifle, only the thumb is tucked behind the small of the stock, not sticking out on the left of the stock. The extreme angle of the wrist is not necessary. Fingers should be extended and joined and pointed downward at an approximate 45-degree angle.
