Over the last week, Americans have witnessed what appears to be a significant political shift within the Democratic Party. Commentators across the media have said, "This isn't your father's Democratic Party," and we believe that observation reflects truth.

The 30th District Republican Party wants to be clear: socialism and communism have never produced a truly free society. History has repeatedly shown that these ideologies undermine individual liberty, economic opportunity, and self-government. Yet today, it appears the Democrat Party, and its leaders, are embracing and welcoming voices that openly advocate for ideas many Americans once believed were far outside the political mainstream. Abolishing law enforcement, eliminating national borders, and seizing the means of production are just a few of these radical ideas.

For Republicans, this is more than a political disagreement - it is a wake-up call. America has spent generations defending freedom against these ideologies because we understand what is at stake. We should not become complacent about the values that have made our nation the freest and most prosperous in history.

But this is not a message of despair. It is a call to action.

President Ronald Reagan reminded us that freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. President John F. Kennedy likewise challenged Americans: "Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer."

The 30th District Republican Party believes America remains the greatest nation on earth because our founding principles endure. We believe government exists to serve the people, not the other way around. We believe opportunity is created by free citizens, not directed by the state. And we believe Washington's future and ultimately the future of our country, will be determined not by fear, but by engaged citizens who choose to defend liberty, personal responsibility, and the promise of the American Dream.

Now is the time for our fellow Washington citizens to pay attention, get involved, and VOTE in this year’s election to help preserve the freedoms that generations of Americans have fought to protect.
