LA County is proud to recognize National Immigrant Day and stand with the more than 3.5 million immigrant residents who shape the culture, history, and lived experiences that make LA County so special.

Thank you to CHIRLA, Refugee Forum of Los Angeles, Black Alliance for Just Immigration, Asian American Pacific Islander Equity Alliance, and all the community organizations and residents who celebrate and advocate for our immigrant communities every day.

Ongoing attacks on basic human rights and efforts to push people off the health care services they need, make it all the more important to reaffirm our commitment to protecting immigrant communities and the dignity of all people. This is the work we must do together.

Please connect with the organizations listed above and join us in sharing information about resources available through the LA County Office of Immigrant Affairs: oia.lacounty.gov

📢 PRESS RELEASE: The Refugee Forum of Los Angeles (RFLA) commends the LA County Board of Supervisors for proclaiming October 28th as National Immigrants Day in Los Angeles County!

👏 Heartfelt thanks to Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell for introducing this proclamation.

An estimated 3.3 to 3.5 million refugees and immigrants call LA County home. They are essential workers, small business owners, students, and community leaders who keep our region thriving. This recognition affirms that immigrant families belong here.
However, this moment comes during critical challenges: a new federal rule drastically shortens the response window for refugees facing status termination from 30 days to just 10 days, while local communities face intensified enforcement.

We stand united with all our member agencies and partners, with special appreciation to Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights for their leadership and support.
