We were hoping to not have to post this, because we thought people would realize on their own that it’s not a good day to do any open burning. Unfortunately crews just got back from a large control burn that was under control, but severely at risk of getting out of control due to the weather conditions.

Please don’t do any open burning today or until we get rain. While this is not a “No Burn Notice”, if you start a fire and it catches your neighbors property on fire you can be held liable for the damages!

So please no open burning until the weather changes!!

Thank you!!

Elevated fire danger is forecast across much of the area on Monday due to the combination of gusty southwest winds, low relative humidity values, and dry fuels.

Today, the members of the Jonesburg-High Hill Fire Protection District pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We remember the 2,977 innocent people who never made it home, the civilians who faced unimaginable circumstances, and the 343 firefighters and 60 law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice while rushing toward danger to save others.

We honor their courage, sacrifice, and dedication to duty. We also remember the countless first responders who worked tirelessly in the days, weeks, and years that followed—and those who continue to suffer the lasting effects of that day.

We ask that you take a minute from your busy day to pause and reflect on the events of this day.

Never Forget! 🇺🇸🇺🇸

This morning at approximately 8:15am your firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire with people trapped on Hwy. Y. Upon arrival of the first fire unit, the size up report was heavy smoke and fire showing from an apartment building with people still trapped inside. Crews made an aggressive interior attack on the apartment unit that was on fire and was able to keep the fire contained to one apartment. The rest of the building had heavy heat, smoke, and water damage throughout.

The occupant of the unit that was on fire was transported to an area hospital for evaluation. Other occupants that were trapped were assisted and rescued by citizens that seen the fire using ladders that were laying in the back of the building prior to the arrival of fire units. Approximately 10 to 12 cats were rescued from several other apartment units. Unfortunately 4 cats passed from smoke inhalation, 4 kittens were given oxygen and aid and received further medical treatment from Hometown Mobile Veterinary Clinic that responded to the scene, 4 other cats were rescued and were uninjured.

All occupants are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

We would like to say THANK YOU to the citizens that helped and to our mutual aid agencies that assisted us. This includes New Florence Fire Protection District, Bellflower Fire Protection District, Montgomery County MO Sheriff's Office, Montgomery County Ambulance District, Montgomery County, MO Dispatch, Warren County Ambulance District, and Hometown Mobile Veterinary Clinic.

We all know the weather in Missouri can be unpredictable most of the time, so when our local meteorologist announce that severe weather is possible we want our citizens to be aware and prepared. This weather event has the possibility of flooding in our area. So please don’t try to drive through flooded roads.

It is with great sadness, but with honor that, we join our neighbors and mutual aid partners of the Wellsville Fire Protection District in escorting one of their own, Captain Jeff Moore to his final resting place this afternoon. Captain Moore passed away yesterday in a non line of duty tragic vehicle accident.

Captain Moore faithfully served the Wellsville Fire Protection District for more than 30 years, dedicating his life to serving his community with honor, courage, and compassion. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the entire Wellsville Fire family during this difficult time.

Rest easy, Captain Moore. Thank you for your service and sacrifice. Your brothers and sisters in the fire service will take the line from here.

Last night these firefighters of your fire district were on standby for the Annual July 4th Fireworks display from 6:30pm to 10:00pm. We responded to 1 emergency call while at the standby, for a vehicle leaking fuel. The incident was quickly resolved and the firefighters also got to enjoy the fireworks display and visit with citizens throughout the night. 🚒🇺🇸
