Today was a full-circle moment for me as I joined my colleagues in the General Assembly to celebrate Delaware’s growing future in the film and entertainment industry. Delaware has a beautiful and unique landscape that is worth showcasing, and with the signing of SB 342 and HB 364, we are allowing our state to be shared with the rest of the world.

These pieces of legislation create new opportunities to grow Delaware’s impact in the film industry while supporting our local businesses, venues, workers, and artists that make production possible. I’m grateful to have worked alongside Rep. Kerri Evelyn Harris and Gov. Matt Meyer on this effort that has been years in the making. This project was an investment in Delaware’s creative economy and an ability to share what we already know: Delaware looks good on camera!

Recently, the Delaware Division of Arts received a $77,500 award through the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies to expand their Access Creative Aging program, which provides workshops to older Delawareans interested in learning disciplines like pottery, poetry, painting, dancing and much more.

This investment will give hundreds of our older neighbors the opportunity to hone a craft, bolstering their self-confidence and sense of accomplishment. For more information about the Access Creative Aging program, and which public libraries and senior centers that these workshops are offered, visit:

The workshop was designed to cultivate the development of meaningful arts engagement programming to benefit Delaware’s rapidly growing aging population.

On Yom Kippur, we are reminded of the power of reflection, sacrifice, and the shared values we hold within our communities. As our Jewish friends and neighbors gather in prayer, I hope they find strength in faith and community within this day of fasting.

The Delaware Office of Highway Safety wants to remind you how to make sure your child's car seat is installed and used correctly during Child Passenger Safety Week, Sept. 20 to 26. Whether you're a new parent or just need a quick refresher, taking a few minutes to review car seat safety can make a big difference. https://www.arrivealivede.com/secure-the-kids/

Twenty five years ago, the events of September 11th made their indelible mark on the American people and forever changed the trajectory of our nation.

Today, we reflect on the sacrifices made by thousands of brave first responders who put themselves in harm’s way to protect their communities. In the years that followed, we have seen the steep toll that this day takes on the families of the victims, the survivors of the attacks, and every American who replays the moments of fear and uncertainty they felt 25 years ago.

For the growing population of young adults who were too young to remember or for the generation born after 2001, each September 11 serves as an opportunity to share memories, honor sacrifice of service, and support the physical and mental health of the first responders who keep our communities safe each and every day.

May we never forget.
