Remember the heart-shaped stone Lino found at Bragg-Mitchell Mansion? We weren’t about to let that one disappear into the rock pile. ❤️

We found the perfect spot for it in the finished walkway, tucked beneath those incredible live oaks. On a property that hosts weddings, it feels right at home.

The bigger transformation gets your attention. Little details like this make you stop for a second look.

Today is National Do Something Nice Day, and what better way to celebrate than by looking at one of Mobile's most beautiful symbols of generosity?
The stunning Bragg-Mitchell Mansion stands today because of the incredible kindness of the A.S. Mitchell family. Instead of keeping this 20-room Greek Revival masterpiece private, they chose to donate it so that our entire community and visitors from all over the world could enjoy its historic grandeur, lush gardens, and iconic live oaks.
You don't need to donate a historic mansion to make a difference today! Kindness can be as simple as:• Complementing a stranger's day• Leaving a generous tip for your server• Paying for the coffee of the person behind you in line• Buying a ticket to tour a local museum or historical landmark
How are you planning to spread a little extra joy around town today?

🍬 Did you know that chewing gum in public was once considered a total Southern etiquette "no-no"?
🤫Happy National Chewing Gum Day!

While we are popping bubbles today on September 30th, historic icons like Mobile’s grand Bragg-Mitchell Mansion remember a time when high-society standards were a bit more rigid. Back in the 19th and early 20th centuries, chewing gum in public was famously frowned upon and seen as completely "tacky" for a Southern lady or gentleman.
When Judge John Bragg built this breathtaking estate in 1855, it became the epicenter of Mobile's lively winter social season. Guests would arrive in horse-drawn carriages, walk past the majestic live oaks, and step into the double parlors for elegant entertaining—where proper etiquette reigned supreme, and gum chewing was strictly left at the door!
Thankfully, times have changed. Today, you can explore the stunning Bragg-Mitchell Mansion grounds, admire the architecture, and even enjoy your favorite flavor of gum to boost your memory and focus during the tour. Just remember the golden rule of modern historic home visits: keep it in your mouth and out of the antique furniture! 😉
