Vigilance is the standard… every contact, every person, every time.

Officers observed a vehicle drive past them with some equipment violations. As the officers made a u-turn, the vehicle abruptly pulled over and the male passenger ran off. As officers pulled up to stop the vehicle, the female driver jumped out and tried to walk away, then added some attitude like it would help.

As backing officers set a perimeter and looked for the male, officers on the stop located a loaded unregistered gun in the purse the woman was wearing. Inside the car, a second loaded and unregistered gun, drugs with intent to sell, and the guy’s identification 😏 were found.

The male evaded capture that day, but is probably feeling like he’s living in The Truman show right about now.

It’s Code Enforcement Appreciation Week! 🙌

Keeping a community looking and feeling its best takes teamwork, and our Code Enforcement team is a big part of that!

Day in and day out, our team addresses both neighborhood concerns and takes a proactive approach to keeping our streets, businesses, and neighborhoods safe, clean, and charming.

A lot of what they do happens behind the scenes, but the impact is something our entire community gets to enjoy.

Help us give a shoutout to our Code Enforcement team for all they do!

We had a great time serving dinner, connecting with the community, and supporting the fight against breast cancer at the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer fundraiser.

It was a night filled with good food, great conversations, and an even greater cause! 💞

On behalf of Chief Blanco and the men and women of Upland PD, we send our thoughts and prayers to the Liles and California Highway Patrol family.

Repost from the California Highway Patrol:

“It is with profound sadness that the California Highway Patrol announces the line-of-duty death of Officer Brian Liles of the Visalia Area.

On September 28, 2026, at approximately 5:11 p.m., CHP Motorcycle Officer Liles was involved in an on-duty traffic crash on State Route 99, just north of State Route 190 in Tipton. He sustained critical injuries and, despite lifesaving efforts, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Officer Liles, 44, served the people of California for more than 16 years. After graduating from the CHP Academy in 2010, he was assigned to the San Jose Area and later served in the Hayward and Fresno Areas before transferring to the Visalia Area in 2019.

Officer Liles is survived by his wife, two children, his parents, and two sisters.

The CHP extends its deepest condolences to Officer Liles’ family, friends, loved ones, and all who served alongside him. His dedication to public service and commitment to protecting the people of California will not be forgotten.”

Last week, officers spotted a wanted subject, who decided to put his Altima through its paces. After rear ending a work truck, his car threw in the towel, forcing him to surrender. The guy ended up totaling his car and earned himself several new felony charges on top of his warrant.
