The Alliance for Inclusion and Respect (formerly The Champaign County Anti-Stigma Alliance) is a collaborative campaign to challenge discrimination and promote inclusive communities. The ALLIANCE has used the arts to initiate dialogue about acceptance and dignity and their effect of persons with disabilities, their loved ones, and the community itself.

“The Sons and Daughters in Heaven Gala is a special evening dedicated to honoring and remembering the lives of sons and daughters who are no longer with us. It brings grieving families, community leaders, supporters, and advocates together in an atmosphere centered on love, remembrance, healing, and hope.

This event also serves as an important fundraiser for A Cry For You. Our fundraising goal is $10,000, which will help us continue providing support, assistance, and resources to families and youth impacted by gun violence and traumatic loss.

Take Me Home started life as a short film that played at Sundance in 2023. After entering the Tribeca Untold Stories competition, the filmmakers were awarded $1 million to turn it into a feature, just like last year’s EbertFest selection, Color Book, now streaming on Netflix.

In January, Take Me Home had its World Premiere at Sundance, where it won the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Prize—the same award won by last month’s screening, Morris From America.

The film has a 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes, including a 3.5-star review from RogerEbert’s site and a 3.6 on Letterboxd. And trust me, the ending is one you’ll want to discuss as soon as the credits roll!”

Individuals supported by DSC had the opportunity to present to the Champaign County Developmental Disabilities Board and Mental Health Board during a recent Study Session.

This year, advocates were invited to provide feedback on how the Board can turn its disability inclusion resolution into meaningful action. These advocates shared ideas, experiences, and recommendations for building a more inclusive community for people with disabilities.

Way to go advocates in using your voices to educate, inspire, and influence local leaders!

We recently came together for our annual Rosecrance Staff Bash, where we had the opportunity to celebrate the people who make our work possible every day.

A special congratulations to this year’s Star Award recipients! Thank you for the dedication, compassion, and commitment you bring to Rosecrance and the people we serve.

We’re proud to celebrate all four of this year’s honorees!

While recent screenings have gone off without any tech problems, we have a little hitch for tomorrow.

After contracting to show Joybubbles with a company, I have been trying for over a week to get them to supply a copy we can show, and they have not done so, and I have to cancel that film.

As luck would have it, I know of ANOTHER documentary about a blind man that wants to spread joy to as many people as possible, and that man is Vincent Falk, and the film is Vincent: A Life In Color.

Oddly enough, it was the first film I thought of as a replacement, and when I got home and starting looking things up, I was reminded that the film played at Ebertfest in 2010, AND that Vincent attended UIUC!

Interestingly, before last night, I had only shown TWO movies here that had played at EbertFest before, and they were both from the same year! (The Man With The Movie Camera and Song Sung Blue).

So, please, still come on out tomorrow at 3:30 PM to the Savoy 16 + IMAX to see this fantastic, Roger Ebert approved documentary. It's still only $1!
