❗️A reminder to our Urbandale community:
Voting Day for the proposed new Urbandale Police Department is Tuesday, November 3, 2026!
🚔 Our current police station was built in 1982, when Urbandale had approximately 18,000 residents. Today, our community has grown to nearly 50,000 residents, and our department has grown right alongside it. The proposed new facility would help meet the operational, safety, technology, training, and space needs of our growing community.
💰 What about property taxes?
The City’s proposed financing plan is designed so that the new police station would NOT require an increase in the City’s current property tax rate. The plan combines the proposed $25 million bond referendum with $25 million in tax increment financing (TIF) revenue and $10 million in City reserves and Local Option Sales and Services Tax (LOSST) revenue. By coordinating the financing with existing City debt that is being paid off, the project is planned to move forward without increasing the City’s current property tax levy for debt service.
📅 Mark your calendar for November 3!
We encourage residents to learn more about the proposed project, understand the financing plan, and be informed when they head to the polls.
