Today is the last post this Auxiliary. We are having to close due to membership. We have members going to other locations and going member at large. This was an amazing time and we know that helping the military and it’s Veterans is very important.

Iowa nonprofit creates worldwide support network for women veterans to process experiences, mental health Alyssa Flood of Johnston was inspired to create Bombshell Patriots to support women veterans in honor of her friend Lori, a U.S. military veteran.

Today, April 5, is Gold Star Wives Day, which is a day dedicated to those widows/widowers whose spouses died while serving in the Armed Forces of the United States, or as a result of service-connected disabilities. On this day Gold Star Wives come together to support one another, and to raise awareness of the incredible sacrifice that their spouse and the entire family made as a result of their military service.

Let us not forget the tremendous sacrifice of the Gold Star wives and families.

“Today, March 29th, is National Vietnam War Veterans Day. Since 1974, US Presidents and the United States have honored Vietnam veterans on this day, marking the removal of the last troops from Vietnam on March 29, 1973. This day honors the men and women who served and sacrificed during the longest conflict in United States history. Over 58,000 lives were lost during the Vietnam War, 304,000 were wounded and there are 1,246 Missing in Action. The US Senate passed the Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017 and President Donald Trump signed the Act into law. The Act encourages the display of the flag of the United States on this National Day of Remembrance. Please remember our Vietnam veterans and thank them for their sacrifice and service to our country. Let's flood my post with pictures of your Vietnam vet! 🇱🇷”

Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest - VFW Auxiliary The VFW Auxiliary's Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest is an art scholarship contest open to students in grades 9-12. Learn more here.

Calling all youth ages 6 to 16 with a passion for patriotism. You’re invited to participate in the VFW Auxiliary national anthem singing contest, Get Excited for the Red, White and Blue! All genres, instruments and backing tracks are welcome for this solo vocal performance contest of “The Star-Spangled Banner.” You could win a $1,000 national prize! Video entries and signed entry forms are due to a local VFW Auxiliary by March 31, 2021.
