October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Our officers are proud to show their support by wearing pink badges throughout the month.

We remember those we have lost, honor and celebrate survivors, and support those who are currently facing breast cancer. Together, we can help spread awareness and remind our community that no one has to face this alone.

With bear activity surging, we want to remind residents and visitors that the best way to protect them is to “Latch the Can” and give bears plenty of space. That means ensuring that public and residential bear resistant canisters have been properly latched and secured as well as avoiding bears for their safety – and yours.

The Town of Vail's Wildlife Protection Ordinance mandates wildlife resistant trash enclosures for residences and businesses and these containers are compliant only if they are closed and latched properly. Vail Town Code also requires only putting residential trash outside from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on a scheduled trash collection day. Intentional or unintentional feeding of wildlife at any time through the mishandling of pet food, bird feeders and garbage is prohibited and subject to an immediate citation.

Questions? Call the Vail Police non-emergency line at 970-479-2200.
