Happy National Principals Month, Mr. Cronk!

Thank you for encouraging our Buccaneers to persevere through challenges and celebrating their growth along the way. We’re grateful for your dedication to our students, staff, and VHS community! 💙🏴‍☠️

For , we’re celebrating Dave Cronk, principal of Valdez High School! 🩵 🏴‍☠️

Now in his 23rd year in education and his first year as an administrator, Dave brings a wide range of classroom and coaching experience to his new role. His teaching career has included math, shop, engineering, PE, and even ground school for pilots. He also coached basketball throughout his 22 years of teaching and supported student activities through athletic leadership roles.

His favorite part of being principal? Interacting with students and seeing them grow. “Seeing them grow and experience success here at VHS is very fulfilling to me. It makes me excited to come to work every day.” He also credits the VHS staff for their commitment to supporting students.

Dave especially enjoys seeing hard work pay off. “It may not happen right away but building that persistence and drive to keep working through setbacks is so important in life and will lead them to great places.”

Outside of school, Dave enjoys fishing, hunting, and spending time outdoors. In the summer, you’ll most likely find him on a boat in Prince William Sound, fishing, or taking others out on the water.

Thank you, Mr. Cronk, for your dedication to our students and the VHS community!
