This morning, we welcomed the Leadership Lowndes Class of 2026 to Lowndes County Fire Rescue for their Public Safety & Courts Program Day! 🚒

From tackling the obstacle course and riding up in our aerial truck to extinguishing a vehicle fire and learning how to throw a hose, the class got a hands-on look at what it takes to serve in the fire service.

We enjoyed giving these future leaders an up-close look at the training, skills, and teamwork that go into protecting our community.

Outdoor burning is not recommended in Lowndes County today!

Very low humidity is creating elevated fire concerns across our area today. Dry conditions make fires easier to start and spread quickly.

Please help reduce the risk:
• Avoid outdoor activities that could create sparks or flames.
• Keep vehicles off dry grass when possible.
• Use extra caution with any open flames.
• Make sure your emergency plan is ready to go.

Outdoor burning is not recommended in Lowndes County today!

This week, Lowndes County Fire Rescue partnered with SGMC Health Emergency Services for hands-on Vehicle Entrapment Patient Treatment training.

The joint training brought firefighters and emergency medical professionals together to practice treating and caring for patients while they remain trapped in a vehicle.

When a serious crash happens, every second matters. Training together allows our teams to better understand each other’s roles, strengthen communication and work seamlessly together on scene.

We’re grateful for our partnership with SGMC Emergency Services and the opportunity to train together to better serve our community when it matters most.
