⛔California Highway Patrol Conducts DUI Checkpoint.
On Friday, May 15, 2026, The California Highway Patrol, Newhall Area Office will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint in the unincorporated area of Los Angeles County. Make a plan, whether it's designating a sober driver or using a rideshare app please be safe.

🚨 I-210 W/B at Hubbard St will be shut down for an unknown duration due to an investigation. Motorists are able to use Foothill Blvd as an alternate route or I-210 W/B to SR-118 W/B to I-5 N/B. Anticipate delays as all traffic is diverted off the freeway in the area.

🚓 CHP Newhall Area Explorers - Now Recruiting!
The California Highway Patrol Newhall Area is looking for motivated young men and women ages 15-21 interested in law enforcement and public service.
Explorers train with CHP officers, assist with community events, and compete in law-enforcement Explorer competitions featuring realistic scenarios like felony stops, DUI Investigations, and radio communications.
This program builds leadership, discipline, teamwork, and confidence while giving you hands-on insight into a career in public safety.

A few things that happened this week in the Newhall Area,
Officers were out in force making a difference in the community.
A routine traffic stop led to a DUI investigation, which resulted in an arrest and illicit drugs were located in the vehicle.
A tractor/trailer that was blocking the road led to the driver being arrested for DUI.
Multiple drivers stopped on the freeway were arrested for DUI.
Please be safe on your travels, make a plan, and don't drink and drive.

Snow is Expected on the Grapevine
What this means for the area
Due to expected snow fall in the area a potential closure of I-5 between the Newhall Area and Fort Tejon is possible. Most of the snowfall is expected between late Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. During this period, snow levels are expected to drop to around 3,000 to 4,000 feet, which could potentially affect travel through the area.
CHP and Caltrans are preparing for potential closures of the I-5 Freeway.
Alternate routes include SR-126 to US-101, and SR-14 to SR-58
