Have you ever seen this and wondered what we’re doing?🧐

Every year the fire department uses drill night to conduct hose testing for every truck.🚒

Why is this important?
We’re checking for leaks in both the hoses and the couplers. When there’s leaks, there’s less pressure. And when we’re fighting fire we need to ensure the water is going where we need it to. Proper maintenance on all equipment allows us to do our jobs safely and efficiently.👨‍🚒🧯

⚠️If you ever see a fire hose blocking the road please turn around and take a detour. Do not ever drive over hoses as it will damage our equipment and prevent us from fighting ongoing fire. ⚠️

Thank You Sandhills State Bank!

Sandhills State Bank is proud to donate $5,000 to the Valentine Volunteer Fire Department for their incredible dedication during the devastating spring 2026 fires. These crews fought tirelessly to protect their neighbors, communities, and land — often pushing equipment and resources to the limit. We're honored to support them as they recover and continue to serve.

This donation is part of 20 awards totaling $100,000 to fire departments across Western Nebraska, made possible in part through a matching grant from FHLBank Topeka's CARE Program.

Thank you to every firefighter who was there when it mattered most. 🙏
