FIRE PREVENTION WEEK 2026 — CHARGE INTO FIRE SAFETY! 🚒

This year, the NFPA reminds us that “Safe Charging Is a Superpower.” A few simple habits can help prevent lithium-ion battery fires:

🔌 Use the correct charger and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
🛋️ Charge on a hard, flat surface—never on beds, couches, or pillows.
🔋 Unplug when fully charged and don’t use damaged or swollen batteries.
🚨 Know the warning signs: overheating, swelling, unusual odors, hissing, or smoke.
♻️ Dispose of batteries properly—never place lithium-ion batteries in household trash.

A few seconds of safe charging can help prevent a serious fire.

⚡ Charge Smart. Charge Safe. Charge Into Fire Safety!
🔥 Fire Prevention Week | October 4–10, 2026

👋 Also make sure you look out for us this week as we will be visiting many of the schools in town

🌧️ NOR’EASTER STORM UPDATE — VALHALLA 💨

A wet and windy weekend is ahead, and we’re asking everyone to use extra caution on the roads. Periods of heavy rain may lead to localized flooding, poor visibility, and hazardous driving conditions throughout the area.

⚠️ FLOODING CONCERNS
The Taconic Parkway can experience significant flooding during periods of heavy rain. The Valhalla Metro-North station parking lot also has known areas that can collect heavy water.

🚗 PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH FLOODED ROADWAYS.

Even if the water looks like a small puddle, do not assume it is shallow. Water depth can be difficult to judge, and just a few inches of moving water can create dangerous conditions. Turn around and find an alternate route.

⚡ DOWNED WIRES
If you see a downed power line, assume it is energized and dangerous.
• Stay far away
• Keep children and pets away
• Do not touch or approach the wire
• Do not drive over it
• Report it to the appropriate authorities/utility company

💨 BEFORE THE STORM
• Secure outdoor furniture, decorations, and loose objects
• Clear leaves and debris from storm drains
• Charge phones and flashlights
• Avoid unnecessary travel during the worst conditions
• Check on neighbors who may need assistance

🚒 Valhalla Fire Department reminds everyone: Turn Around, Don’t Drown.

If you encounter an emergency, call 911.

Stay informed. Stay prepared. Stay safe, Valhalla! 🌧️💨🚒

25 Years Later, We Remember

Today, we pause to remember September 11, 2001, and the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day.

We honor the courage and sacrifice of the firefighters, police officers, EMS personnel, and countless civilians who answered the call, and we remember the families and communities forever changed.

25 years later, their courage still inspires us. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

We Remember. We Honor. We Will Never Forget.
