Congratulations to the eight graduates of Ocho Poderosas, a six-month intergenerational leadership and mentorship program through the Time is YA Network. The program brought together four high school students and four young adults to build confidence, strengthen their voices, and better understand housing, transportation, and local decision-making.
We’re especially proud that the group included parents connected across both GTA schools, MIT Academy and Griffin Academy, along with GTA student Sharon Sanchez. This year’s eight graduates were Ana Isabel Martinez, Ana Raquel Salguera, Julissa N. Duran, Michelle Prieto, Miriam Martinez, Sharon Sanchez, Yuliana Preciado, and Zamantha Abrego. Together, they turned their learning into action by creating a bilingual housing resource guide and presenting transit recommendations to the SolTrans Board focused on safety, accessibility, lighting, and rider needs.
