On October 26, 2026, at approximately 1:17 a.m., officers assigned to the Vallejo Police Department Patrol Division observed a white Nissan sedan stopped in the middle of the street near the intersection of Beechwood Avenue and Georgia Street. Both the driver and passenger appeared to be asleep inside the vehicle.

Concerned for their well-being, officers approached the vehicle to conduct a welfare check. During the initial contact, an officer observed a fi***rm resting on the driver's lap while he remained asleep.

Recognizing the potential safety concerns, officers moved to positions of cover, requested additional units, and established a plan to safely contact the occupants. Rather than immediately confronting the armed driver, officers used time, distance, and repeated announcements to de-escalate the situation.

It took approximately 15 minutes for officers to wake the occupants after using their patrol vehicle's loudspeaker, sirens, and air horns. Both individuals complied with officers' instructions and were safely detained without incident.

During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers recovered the fi***rm beneath the driver's seat. The fi***rm was loaded with a cartridge in the chamber, and a records check confirmed it had been reported stolen out of Las Vegas, Nevada.

The driver, a 19-year-old male, was arrested and booked into the Solano County Jail. The passenger was subsequently released at the scene.

What began as a welfare check resulted in the recovery of a loaded, stolen fi***rm. The officers' decision to slow the situation down, coordinate additional resources, and prioritize communication helped bring the incident to a safe resolution without injury.

On October 15, 2026, at approximately 10:19 p.m., an armed carjacking was reported in the unit block of Chico Street in Vallejo. The call was assigned to the Solano County Sheriff's Office, which was providing supplemental patrol services in Vallejo under an existing agreement with the City of Vallejo.

Following the report, the Solano County Sheriff's Office entered the Chevrolet Silverado into the stolen vehicle system, allowing law enforcement officers to identify the vehicle if located.

Just 23 minutes later, at approximately 10:42 p.m., officers assigned to the Vallejo Police Department Patrol Division located the stolen Silverado in the 700 block of Illinois Street.

Knowing that a fi***rm had been reportedly used during the carjacking, officers coordinated a high-risk traffic stop. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officers observed four suspects inside. All four complied with the officers' instructions and were safely detained without incident.

During a subsequent search of the Silverado, officers recovered a loaded fi***rm.

Further investigation revealed that one occupant, a Napa resident who was identified as possessing the fi***rm, was on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) for a prior narcotics sales conviction. The driver, an Oakland resident, did not possess a valid driver's license. Another occupant from Napa had an outstanding $150,000 arrest warrant issued in Napa County for assault causing great bodily injury.

The Solano County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and took custody of the four occupants, the recovered vehicle, and the fi***rm to continue its investigation.

Within 23 minutes of the initial carjacking report, VPD officers had located the stolen vehicle and safely detained its four occupants. This incident demonstrates the importance of communication and coordination between the Vallejo Police Department and the Solano County Sheriff's Office, whose supplemental patrol efforts continue to support public safety throughout Vallejo.

The Vallejo Police Department (VPD) and the Vallejo City Unified School District (VCUSD) are pleased to announce the second year of the Safe Start to School Days initiative. This program was designed to ensure the safety of students and families during morning drop-off at select schools. From Tuesday, November 3, through Thursday, November 5, the Vallejo Police Department will provide additional support to the community by increasing police presence during peak morning drop-off hours.

The three-day initiative will focus on Steffan Manor Elementary School, Johnston Cooper Elementary, and Solano Widenmann Leadership Academy. These schools were selected based on high traffic volume and past safety concerns. Officers will be stationed at these schools during drop-off hours from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. to monitor traffic, assist with pedestrian safety, and improve overall visibility around the school zones.

The scheduled dates and locations for Safe Start to School are as follows:

-Steffan Manor Elementary School on November 3rd
-Johnston Cooper Elementary on November 4th
-Solano Widenmann Leadership Academy on November 5th

“Every student deserves a safe start to the school day,” VCUSD Superintendent Rubén Aurelio said. “Our continued partnership with the Vallejo Police Department supports safer drop-offs and reminds all of us to slow down, stay alert, and look out for children near our schools.”

The initiative's primary focus will be on addressing common concerns such as speeding, illegal parking, and pedestrian safety. VPD will take proactive measures, using marked patrol vehicles and uniformed officers to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow. They will also work closely with school staff to provide safety support at crosswalks.

“Every student deserves to travel to and from school safely, and every driver has a responsibility to help make that possible,” said Vallejo Police Chief Jason Ta. “Through our Safe Start to School initiative, we are reinforcing the importance of safe driving practices, particularly in school zones where children and families are most vulnerable. Our officers will continue working to address unsafe driving behaviors and help ensure students can begin and end their school day safely.”
