On 12 June, 2026, at 05:13 hours the Valley City Fire Department, Valley City Police Department, and the Barnes County Ambulance responded to a report of a house fire at 631 3rd Street SE. When crews arrived on scene, there was heavy smoke coming from the northeast windows. Fire crews quickly knocked down the fire, made an interior attack and searched the structure and found that the owner occupants were not at home. Fire crews then conducted overhaul procedures and declared the fire out. There was moderate damage to the structure, and there were no injuries. Fire crews, police and ambulance personnel were on scene for approximately 2 hours, 36 minutes. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
