🎉 Happy National School Superintendent Appreciation Day! ❤️🤍

Today, our staff and students had fun dressing up as Mr. Dunn or showing off their Vandal gear, just like Mr. Dunn loves to do! ❤️🤍 We are so thankful for his leadership, support, and the Vandal pride he shows every day. Thank you, Mr. Dunn, for all you do for Van ISD! We appreciate you!

Our 5th graders have been exploring the Renaissance and learning how Leonardo da Vinci became one of the most influential figures of his time!

On Friday, students made text-to-text connections between Leonardo's life and the lyrics of “Try Everything” from Zootopia. Just like the song encourages us to keep trying despite setbacks, Leonardo demonstrated perseverance, curiosity, and a willingness to learn from his failures.

Students collaborated, analyzed, and compared the two texts while making meaningful connections between history and music.

And what better way to wrap up our learning than by singing “Try Everything” together! 🎤🎶

A great reminder that mistakes are part of learning, and amazing things can happen when we never stop trying!

🚀🎈 3…2…1… BLAST OFF! 🎈🚀

5th grade students in Mrs. Harrison’s science class last Friday put their scientific thinking skills to the test as they explored force and motion through a hands-on balloon rocket investigation! 🔬

Students worked through each step of the scientific method as they designed their own investigations, formed hypotheses, conducted experiments, collected data, and analyzed their results. They discovered how forces affect the motion of objects while putting their problem-solving and critical-thinking skills into action!

Who knew a balloon could launch so much learning?! 🎈🚀

📣 VMS Recognition Update ❤️🤍❤️

At VMS, we love celebrating our students and recognizing their hard work, accomplishments, and Vandal Pride!

As we continue to look for the best ways to support our students, we have made the decision to transition away from our traditional Vandal Rallies throughout the school year. While we have loved having families join us for these celebrations, the rallies require a significant amount of time away from classroom instruction.

Celebrating our students isn’t going away! ❤️🤍 We will continue recognizing their achievements throughout the year in ways that allow us to protect valuable instructional time.

And we’ll still have an opportunity to celebrate together! 🎉 At the end of the school year, we plan to hold a special Vandal Rally to recognize and celebrate our students and all they have accomplished throughout the year.

Thank you for understanding and for always helping us celebrate our amazing VMS students. We are proud of our Vandals! ❤️🤍❤️
