🚲💙 World Bicycle Day 💙🚲

A group from Arcade celebrated World Bicycle Day with an unforgettable ride along the beautiful Ventura Harbor thanks to the incredible Cycling Without Age program. With sunshine, ocean breezes, and smiles all around, our participants enjoyed a unique opportunity to experience the harbor from a new perspective while sharing stories, laughter, and community connection.

Cycling Without Age is a worldwide movement that began in Copenhagen, Denmark, with a simple but powerful mission: giving people “the right to wind in their hair.” Through specially designed trishaw bicycles piloted by trained volunteers, the program provides free rides that help reduce isolation, stimulate the senses, and reconnect people with their communities. The Ventura chapter was established in 2025 and serves older adults and individuals with mobility limitations throughout our area.

We are so grateful to the volunteers and community partners who make experiences like this possible. Days like today remind us that inclusion, adventure, and meaningful community participation can happen one pedal stroke at a time.

Happy World Bicycle Day from all of us at Arcade! 🌊☀️🚲

🚴‍♀️💙

It was a wonderful day at the Ojai Enrichment Center 🎹🌳

Yesterday afternoon, Trieana M. spent some time in the Game Room practicing the piano. Staff and fellow participants gathered to enjoy both her playing and singing, and when she finished, Trieana was beaming with pride as she shared the song she had been working so hard on. Moments like these remind us how important it is to encourage creativity, confidence, and self-expression. 🎶

Meanwhile, Mary V. enjoyed a relaxing afternoon at Libbey Park, where she had lunch and spent time coloring while waiting for the rest of the group to arrive.

Ojai is such a beautiful place, and it’s hard to beat a peaceful day spent enjoying one of the best parks in Ventura County. Sometimes the simple moments are the most meaningful. 💙

A St. Day Program brought the summer vibes with a visit from the elotero! 🌽🥭🍧

Participants enjoyed a variety of delicious treats, including street corn, fresh mango, shaved ice, and chips, while spending time together and enjoying the beautiful day.

We even had a special visit from our HR Manager, Yasmin, who joined in on the fun and treated herself to some tasty snacks alongside everyone else. 😊

There’s something special about gathering around good food, sharing laughs, and creating memories together. A big thank you to everyone who helped make this a fun and flavorful day at A St.!

Elysha was all smiles this week as she reached a major milestone in her communication journey! Using her iPad and adaptive communication software through our Voice Discovered Program, Elysha independently placed her own orders at McDonald’s and Baskin-Robbins.

She has been practicing this skill and looking forward to the day she could walk into a restaurant and communicate her order completely on her own—and that day finally arrived! 🎉

This achievement is a testament to Elysha’s hard work, determination, and growing confidence. We’d also like to give a special shout-out to her dedicated staff Lizet, whose encouragement, patience, and commitment to helping Elysha utilize her communication device played an important role in making this moment possible. Their support helped turn a goal into a reality.

Way to go, Elyssa! Keep up the amazing work! 💙

The Arc of Ventura County was proud to send representatives to DisCo at the Capitol 2026 at the California State Capitol 💜✊

This incredible statewide advocacy conference brought together self-advocates, families, service providers, educators, and disability rights leaders from across California—all united around inclusion, accessibility, equity, and protecting critical services for people with disabilities. Hosted by organizations including The Arc of California, Easterseals, and United Cerebral Palsy, the event focused on empowering attendees to speak directly with lawmakers and advocate for meaningful change.

One of the highlights of the event was hearing from inspiring speakers, including actors and advocates from some of our favorite TV shows and films, who shared powerful stories about representation, disability pride, inclusion, and breaking barriers in entertainment and everyday life. Seeing self-advocates represented on stage and in the media in such a big way was incredibly inspiring for our group.

Our team had an amazing time representing ArcVC, meeting presenters and advocates from around the state, participating in the Capitol Rally and Silent DisCo, and experiencing everything Sacramento had to offer. From handmade signs to meaningful conversations, we were proud to help raise awareness and stand alongside hundreds of passionate advocates fighting for a more inclusive future.

Events like this remind us that advocacy matters—and that every voice deserves to be heard. Sacramento, thank you for having us. We’ll keep showing up 💪

A St. Day Program had a wonderful Memorial Day BBQ 🌭

The day was filled with good food, teamwork, and great company as everyone came together to celebrate the holiday weekend and reflect on the spirit of Memorial Day—a time to honor and remember those who served and sacrificed for our country.

Daniel F. stepped up to help grill while Richard A. was all smiles, enjoying his meal.

We also want to give a big thank you to our Senior Companion volunteers who helped set up and clean up afterward. Your support and teamwork helped make the celebration extra special.

Nothing better than food, friendship, and community coming together on a beautiful day ☀️

A huge thank you to Ventura County Ballet for hosting a special sensory-friendly performance of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at Rancho Campana Performing Arts Center 🩰✨

The performance was thoughtfully tailored for individuals with autism and sensory sensitivities, helping create a welcoming and inclusive experience for everyone in attendance.

Pictured here is Zach with one of the talented ballerinas after the show 😊

A wonderful time was had by all, and we’re so grateful to organizations like Ventura County Ballet that continue creating meaningful arts experiences that are accessible to the entire community. Bravo on a beautiful performance! 👏
