Dance parties, soccer in the mud, and final snuggles. Today was perfect and heartbreaking all at once. The deep sadness we feel leaving Chayah is evidence of the joy and wonder that we will forever associate with these people and this place. Thank you to Chayah for loving and welcoming us so well. We can’t wait to see all of you again someday, whether in this life or in eternity.

Wow wow wow. Nearly 1000 kids sitting, singing, and eating with us. And hundreds more listening from outside the gates. I have no words to describe the incredible extremes of this day. As hundreds of children flooded the church building the atmosphere became heavy with the weight of their realities but also the beauty of the hope of God. We know that God works all things for good and that he has a sovereign plan. So in light of that we praised as hard as we could and chose to be the hands and feet of Jesus to each of His beloved little children. We chose laughter, gentle moments and snuggles remembering how Jesus encouraged and embraced children. We chose to show joy and hope and kindness and were so grateful the food stretched to the very last one. I will be honest, VBS was hard. But we left with faith that God is faithful to water the seeds we planted and fulfill His promises of restoration. The kids left with bellies full, having felt a little taste of Heavenly joy and Jesus’s love for them.

Today we drove through Kakira where we will be doing VBS tomorrow, got to shop at the local market, and last but certainly not least went on a boat tour on the Nile! We had a restful day today in preparation for our VBS tomorrow. Please be keeping us in your prayers! We will likely have over 1000 kids and will need the joy, strength, insight, and communication clarity that quite literally can only come from the Holy Spirit.

Rapids as high as our houses, kids experiencing the majesty of God, and epic soccer matches. It doesn’t get much better than this!

Day #5 on the vrwas filled by colors, rain, and sweet moments. Our hearts are full to the brim.

Day #4 we praised God so hard that we lost our voices and played so well that our legs feel like jelly. Today was deeply fruitful and incredibly fun. However, we are also feeling the gravity of the brokenness around us and find ourselves exhausted. Please be praying for the health, strength, and joy that can only come from the Lord.

Day #3! We spent all day at Chayah Christian School with kids from Chayah orphanage and from the local village alike. Crafts, science, racing, and hug piles all in abundance. We got to recognize God’s unique and beautiful creation in each of us through learning about germs and cells. Sticky hands, sassy dance moves, and drum circles are a fantastic way to start off a fantastic week.
