Soon to be Tropical Depression E in the Eastern Pacific off the coast of Central America will eventually become Tropical Storm Cristina. Guidance is split on the eventual track of Cristina with many members saying Cristina moves into southern Mexico and many members syaing Cristina's remnants or Cristina could move into southwestern Gulf. If the Gulf scenario unfolds, this remnant moisture and energy would need to be closely monitored as a ridge this week-weekend is replaced by a trough and approaching cold front. This could lead to a heavy rain setup IF Cristina does indeed meander into the Gulf and up toward Texas. A lot of ifs at this point and there's no need to be concerned but just keep an eye on the forecast over the next 3-5 days and confidence will increase in what will eventually happen with Cristina

Tropical Depression 2 in the Eastern Pacific will intensify into Tropical Storm Boris overnight before making landfall Monday in the Mexican States of Guerrero and Oaxaca. Boris will quickly lose tropical characteristics over the rugged terrain of southern Mexico but the mid-level remnant moisture will stay intact. A pattern featuring a ridge over Texas and a weak trough along the West Coast could help steer some of the mid-level moisture north across the Sea of Cortés toward southern Arizona by late week into the weekend. It's possible with this moisture in place that a couple showers or storms could form Friday and Saturday across southern Arizona. At this point, it doesn't appear to be a big weather-maker but a few lucky folks may see a couple rain drops. Importantly, with the increased humidity, it may make the heat feel worse across southeastern California, Arizona, southern Nevada and New Mexico, possibly southern Utah

Another cold night is ahead for parts of eastern Washington, northern Idaho and western Montana with temperatures dropping into the low to mid-30s - with some colder valleys and sheltered locations dipping into the upper 20s - promoting a widespread frost. Because of this, a Frost Advisory is in effect from late tonight through 8 AM Monday for much of the northern Idaho Panhandle, northeast Washington, the Okanogan Highlands and portions of western Montana. Sensitive outdoor vegetation and unprotected plants may be damaged or killed by the cold so make sure you cover them tonight and bring the pets inside. Enjoy the cooler temperatures because the hottest temperatures of the year so far are on the way

This upcoming week will be hot across the Southern Plains but there's a good signal for a nice cool down after mid-month with a potent cold front, bringing temperatures below normal for a few days. Highs this week will be in the 90s and 100s with heat indices in the 100s - minimal overnight cooling. Behind the front the following week, it's possible highs are in the upper 70s to low 80s with some lows in the 50s. The front looks to make it to I-20 with the most noticeable impacts from the Red River north, so areas farther south won't see much in the way of cooler air - that's how it looks now
