Please join the Fox Canyon Groundwater Management Agency (FCGMA) for an Executive Committee meeting to discuss the need for a new pumping allocation system in the Oxnard and Pleasant Valley Basins. The new allocation system will replace the current Emergency Ordinance E system and will be part of the Groundwater Sustainability Plan (GSP) as required by the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA). The allocation system will affect the amount of water that well owners, including farmers, cities, water districts and companies are allowed to pump without incurring surcharges. The Executive Committee welcomes stakeholders and the public to share their comments and suggestions regarding development of the new allocation system.

Friday (10/30/2015) afternoon, while flagging traffic on Creek Road near Ojai, Ventura County Public Works Agency staff – Adan Lara – was struck by a car and died from his injuries.

For those of you who didn’t have a chance to meet Adan, he was one of a kind. Liked and respected by his co-workers, Adan was a person who genuinely took great pride in his work and thoroughly enjoyed his job. Adan was also very active in his community and in his church. He volunteered to teach classes at Nordhoff High School and he helped to register voters and worked polling places during elections. We at Public Works will miss him greatly.

Adan was the primary source of income for his family – his wife Carmen works part time at a bakery. In addition to Carmen, Adan leaves behind a daughter (24 - Maribel), a son (21 - Eric), and a daughter (14 - Mariela). His family desperately needs our help. They need help both now and for the future. Currently they have unexpected and expensive bills to pay (mortuary, funeral, burial, headstone, etc.). In the future they are facing fear and uncertainty at the loss of Adan’s income and benefits. Needless to say, this is on top of the grief associated with the loss of a father and husband.

Right now we can help by donating to offset their current unexpected expenses. To do this you may simply make a contribution to the Adan Lara Memorial Fund at https://www.gofundme.com/x5888pek./.

Thank you in advance for your support of Adan’s work and his family in this time of tremendous sorrow.

Please feel free to call with any questions or suggestions for future fundraising opportunities.
