🚨 SCAM ALERT 🚨
The FBI has sent an ongoing nationwide alert to the public about phishing scams targeting individuals and businesses with active Planning & Zoning permit applications.
Scammers are impersonating City and County officials to request fraudulent permit payments. These emails may include real permit numbers, property addresses, logos, and official names to appear legitimate.
⚠️ Red flags to watch for:
• Emails that appear official but come from non-government domains (example: “.com”)
• Requests for payment via wire transfer, payment apps, or cryptocurrency
• Attached invoices requesting payment instructions by email
• Messages that create urgency or threaten delays
How to Keep Yourself Safe:
✔️ The County will NEVER request payments via wire transfer, peer-to-peer payment apps, or cryptocurrency.
✔️ Always verify the sender’s email address for misspellings or extra characters.
✔️ Contact agencies directly using official phone numbers listed on County websites to confirm fees or correspondence.
Read the full alert and report any fraudulent messages to:
www.ic3.gov

Mountain Fire Recovery Update 🏡
The second certificate of occupancy for a home rebuilt after the Mountain Fire has been issued.
The home belongs to Camarillo residents Al and Phyllis Nordquist, a couple in their 90s. All that remained after the fire was an untouched wedding album, a few family photographs, and mementos saved by firefighters. Their rebuilding journey officially began after receiving their permit on August 18, 2025, with the final inspection completed in early May.
“We hope our story gives hope and faith to other seniors who lost their homes and are thinking of rebuilding,” said Al Nordquest.
This milestone reflects steady progress in the County’s recovery efforts. Many families, however, are still navigating the rebuilding process, with additional homes expected to reach completion in the coming months. County staff remain committed and available to provide guidance and answer questions as projects move from planning to construction and final inspection.
Residents can access recovery resources, updates, and additional information at recovery.venturacounty.gov.
