"Thanks for letting those babies read whatever they want."
I've never cared much *what* gets someone reading.
Comic books. Fantasy. Romance. Graphic novels. Dog books. Dragon books. Books about trucks. Books about princesses.
If a kid is excited to pick up a book, I'm already happy.
The love of reading has to start somewhere.

Every reader knows exactly how this happens π
You pick up a book expecting a cute little story to pass the time.
Three days later you're emotionally attached to six fictional people, questioning your life choices, and staring at a wall because Chapter 27 changed you as a person.
And somehow we keep coming back for more π

I've never understood people who say they're bored.
My "to be read" pile alone could keep me occupied for the next several years π
Books have taught me things, distracted me when I needed distracting, made me laugh, made me cry, and introduced me to people and places I'd never have encountered otherwise.
That's a pretty amazing return on investment for something you can borrow from a library for free.

This right here is what I want the Lemon Blossom Library to be:
A place where everyone can find something that speaks to them. A place where kids can see themselves in the pages, discover lives different from their own, and maybe walk away feeling a little more understood.
Not every book is for every reader, and that's OK.
But every reader deserves books.
That's why I'll keep stocking diverse books, inclusive books, banned books, and books that help people feel seen. Because stories are for everyone.

One minute you're reading about taxes, divorce, office politics, and somebody making questionable life choices...
The next minute you're reading about a kid who found a secret passageway, a dragon, or a treehouse that can travel through time.
I'm not saying children's books always win, but I'm also not *not* saying that π
Honestly, read whatever makes you happy. Life's too short to worry about whether a book is "supposed" to be for your age group.

Let's be honest... book people are the WORST people to ask if you should buy another book.
You don't even have to read me the synopsis.
You saw it on Bookstagram? Buy it.
Your friend recommended it? Buy it.
The cover is pretty? Buy it.
It's on sale? Definitely buy it.
Am I saying this while surrounded by books I haven't gotten around to reading yet? Maybe. That's not the point π

As we kick off Pride Month, I wanted to share this one.
One of the things I love most about Little Free Libraries is that books can help people feel seen. Sometimes all it takes is finding a character, a story, or an experience that reminds you that you're not the only one.
Everyone deserves that feeling.
This month, I'll be celebrating the importance of diverse and inclusive stories, because every reader deserves to see themselves reflected on the page.
Happy Pride Month. Your light matters. π

OK, I need answers π
How many of you are also easily distracted by dogs and books?
Show me a picture of your dog (or cat... I'll allow it π) and tell me what you're currently reading!
Bonus points if your pet is helping you read by sitting directly on the book.

See? This is why I love librarians π
Forty-five minutes of patiently helping someone save a document and attach it to an email, all while saying, "You've got this."
And then she wrote everything down so the woman could do it herself next time!
That's above-and-beyond kindness right there.
We talk a lot about books (and you know I will forever π), but librarians help people in so many ways most of us never even see.

I think this is one of the reasons I love books so much!
You can sit in your favorite chair, under a blanket, with a cup of coffee nearby, and somehow end up in another country, another century, another galaxy, or somebody else's life.
Not bad for a pile of paper and ink π
