Depths of Discovery Gala: bit.ly/4tWaVwH The City of Vergennes regulates the parking lot behind the Bixby Library. Per the signage posted in the parking lot, on the Bixby’s page, and on the Bixby Website: "Overnight Winter Parking: 8pm - 7am. Cars left in lot after 7am will be towed at the owners’ expense. Effective December 1 - March 31. - City of Vergennes.” This allows the library to have the parking lot plowed in time to open to staff, volunteers, and the public without cars in their way.

Banned Books Week is October 4-10th 2026, and we at the Bixby are joining with others around the country to bring awareness to the rising number of attempts at banning books in schools, libraries, and bookstores.

The Bixby wants to highlight the importance of literature and exposure to it by featuring the “Books that Raised Us.” We are all products of public libraries and the books inside them. They made us the literature and library lovers we are today! We encourage you to look back on the books that raised you this week as we all reflect on the importance of our right to read, no matter our age. Tell us below whose list you relate to the most!

Please make sure to visit our display in the lobby to check out a banned book and learn more about the current state of censorship.

Create a monstrous monstrosity! With very little skill needed, and only our minds as guides, join us as we take on making our own teddy bears. Or... some version of one. No sewing skills required. In fact, sewing is optional.
