LIONS CLUB STUDENT OF THE MONTH FOR OCTOBER

October’s Student of the Month is part of a family affair as her sister was selected Student of the Month back in 2022. She is a well-rounded, fully involved, student and community member.

She is currently ranked 7th in the Senior class and sports an excellent 4.245 GPA. She has achieved the High Honor Roll multiple times throughout her career. She has been awarded Outstanding Department Student in Social Studies, English, Math, and Art two times. She has earned her Academic Letter and an Academic Lantern. As a student of art, she has earned 3 Scholastic Silver Keys for Photography and a Scholastic Gold Key for Film. She also has won the Sailor Ambassador Award. She is a member of the National Honor Society and serves as President. She is the Student Council Vice-President and President of the National Art Honor Society. Her other involvements include the Theater program, the Art Club and the LEO Club. As part of her success in art, she was elected as the student representative to Public Art Vermilion, which features and encourages art throughout the city.

As part of her community involvement, she has been selected as Miss Vermilion, Festival of the Fish Queen and Festival of the Fish Court throughout the past years.

When asked about her teacher’s comments, they would include positive and enthusiastic, helpful and welcoming to others. Seeing her interactions through the school, she is a positive presence and her personality is uplifting and joyful.

The October Student of the Month is Summer Ellis, daughter of proud parents Savannah and Shawn Ellis.

Summer plans to attend college for marketing and musical theater.

LIONS CLUB STUDENT OF THE MONTH FOR SEPTEMBER

This year's first student of the month for the 2026-2027 school year might be a familiar name. He is the last of three boys and his older brother won the Student of the Month award 2 years ago…. AND remarkably enough both have won the September Student of the Month Award.

This young man sports an outstanding 4.511 GPA, currently ranked #1 in the class and all while playing sports, playing in the band and taking an honors and CCP course load. He has been selected to the National Honor Society and serves as the Vice President. He is also a member of the Student Council and he serves as Senior Class President. He is part of the Model United Nations class as well where he was chosen as a Model UN member of the Excellent Delegation. He has earned his academic letter for his grades and performance in the classroom.

As a band member, he is one of the student leaders and has received the Golden Plume Award for his excellence in performing. He was just recently on FOX8 when the band played at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

As an athlete, he is a member of the swim team and plays number 1 singles on the tennis team. He was also the 6th man this year for the varsity boy’s golf team. As a member of the various teams, he has also helped out as a camp counselor, assisting young kids in learning the sports.

Outside of school, he is a member of the St. Mary’s Church Youth Group. He is a member of the Boys’ Scouts and has attained the rank of Eagle Scout.

One thing that teachers would say about him is that he is creative and hard working. He also is a humble and gracious young man - it was hard to get him to brag about himself, just filling out the paper for this presentation.

His future plans include heading to college and majoring in architecture.

The September Student of the Month is Timothy Anders, son of proud parents Molly and Terry Anders who could not be in attendance due to a coaching obligation.
