We had a great time at the Star Party in Vermillion at Showse Park last night. Thank you to everyone who made it. We checked out Saturn, the Moon, Andromeda, and many other objects. We had several Seestars going as well, capturing many other targets including a comet. Here is Messier 35 next to NGC 2158, captured right after the Star Party. I hope everyone can make the next one. We have Solar Observing Sunday, the 25th, at Sandy Ridge.

Due to poor weather conditions, the Star Party at Showse Park originally scheduled for tonight has been rescheduled for the rain date tomorrow, Saturday, October 17th at 8PM.

While the forecast looks clear for tomorrow night, a final decision about whether to proceed with the event will be made around 1PM tomorrow afternoon. If the event is canceled, we will contact all registered attendees via phone and email. Otherwise, we look forward to seeing all of you tomorrow, Saturday, October 17th at 8PM at Showse Park!

Please also keep the weather in mind and consider dressing for the cold temperature and wearing boots if grass remains wet.

Our newest book discussion group, centering child development & mental health books, is especially for parents and caregivers. Make connections with fellow parents, get some much-needed adult socialization time, and brush up on your parenting skills all at the same time! We know life gets busy, so this book club is just once per quarter, and you can bring the kids along to enjoy a craft with staff in an adjacent room. Physical copies of the book are available to borrow at the Children's desk, or instantly borrow the eBook in Hoopa or Audiobook in Libby. Our first selection is How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish.
