Nonprofit organization providing transportation, nutrition, care coordination, and supportive services that help older adults live independently and safely.

For more than 45 years, Senior Resource Association (SRA) has provided services to support and advocate for independence and dignity of older adults in Indian River County. Every day, our Meals on Wheels, Adult Day Care, and Community Coach transportation programs provide wellness and peace of mind for seniors and their families as well as adults aged 18 and older who need supervised care. Senior Resource Association, in conjunction with Indian River Transit, also manages GoLine, the public transit system with 15 fixed routes throughout Indian River County. Residents and visitors of all ages catch the bus at no charge.

🎄It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! At least it was at the United Way of Indian River County Day of Caring event at SRA💙 Our ENTHUSIASTIC volunteers filled out holiday cards for our Santa for Seniors gift recipients and helped decorate drop-boxes for our community partners. A great time was had by all, and we couldn't be more appreciative. Thank you to those who participated and Crossover Mission Inc for bringing the team! 🌟

A fall can be frightening and disorienting. Knowing what to do can help you stay calm and avoid making an injury worse.

𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗮𝗹𝗹:

🫁 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲. Take a few deep breaths and stay still for a moment.

🩹 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗷𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀. Don’t try to get up quickly. Make sure you’re not hurt before attempting to move.

🪑 𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝗿𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗷𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘂𝗽: Roll onto your side, slowly get onto your hands and knees, and crawl toward a sturdy chair. Use the chair to help you slowly rise and sit down.

📞 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽. If you’re injured or unable to get up, call 911 or ask someone nearby for assistance. If you’re alone, stay as comfortable as possible while you wait for help.

Falls are common, but they don't have to be an inevitable part of aging. NCOA recommends these six steps to help older adults stay safe and independent:

4️⃣ Get your vision and hearing checked
5️⃣ Make your home safer
6️⃣ Talk to your family and friends

💊 Help your loved one keep track of medications and talk with their healthcare provider about possible side effects.
🩺 Offer to join them at healthcare appointments and help ask questions.
