This summer, we had the pleasure of welcoming Virginia Tech student Robert Spurlock to our office for an internship. It was a privilege to have Rob on our team and learn from him along the way.
Here’s what Rob had to say about his experience:
“This week marks the end of my summer internship with Augusta County Economic Development. Throughout the summer, I’ve gained valuable insight into the incentive process, what makes industrial land attractive to growing companies, and how communities can position and market sites for development. Visiting local businesses and learning about their operations and how the County supports their growth has been one of the most rewarding parts of the experience. Another highlight has been touring industrial land, buildings, and warehouse spaces throughout the Shenandoah Valley with the Virginia Economic Development Partnership and Shenandoah Valley Partnership. Seeing these properties firsthand gave me a much better understanding of what companies look for in a site and helped connect what I learned in the office to real economic development projects.
I’m excited to carry this experience into my classes this fall at Virginia Tech and, eventually, into a career in commercial and industrial real estate, where understanding site selection, industrial property value, and the needs of growing businesses will be especially valuable”
We're grateful for all Rob contributed this summer and look forward to seeing where his education and career take him. Best of luck this fall, Rob!
