The FC is HONORED to have the BEST CNP staff in the nation!!! Mr. Krontiras, Mrs. Lovin, and Mrs. Walden set the energy in the cafeteria every day! They are intentional in interactions, learning and using the names of every student and adult! They choose themed music that matches the menu each day. They prepare exciting meals that everyone on campus can’t wait to try. And they even make a special Friday breakfast to bring teachers from all over the building together around the table once a week! This crew is EXCEPTIONAL, and we are so thankful they are ours!!!!

Mrs. Deerman is the interventionist with flair!!! She loves helping students find the area of a triangle, develop a strong thesis statement, or write a plan for getting homework done! She’s organized, intentional, and thorough, and we’re so thankful she’s here at the FC!!!

Our incredible librarian, Mrs. Jackson, ensures that everyone has a place to read, study, and print! She hosts book tastings, opens her space for large REPs, and invites classes for their presentations. Mrs. Jackson, thank you for helping our readers grow!

We can’t wrap up the school year without officially thanking some amazing support staff here at the FC! First up are our incredible paraprofessionals! These ladies go above and beyond to ensure that all students are able to learn and achieve at high levels. We are thankful for you all!! You make learning sweet!

Due to a risk of severe weather, all Vestavia Hills City Schools offices and school activities will close at 4 p.m. today, May 6. This closure includes the VHCS Extended Day Program and other after-school events.

In September 1971, the Vestavia Hills City Council passed Resolution 332 to honor the memory of coaches Tommy Ward, Cooper Ray, and Phillip Puccio. Recipients of these awards demonstrate the most outstanding athletic ability, leadership, and attributes of character which symbolize the high ideals instilled in our students by the coaches for which the awards were named.

In front of the entire student body on Monday, Athletic Director Laura Casey and longtime AD Buddy Anderson announced the 55th recipients of the Cooper Ray Award for Outstanding Freshman Athletes! Nominated and voted on by coaches, the recipients of this award join an elite club of student-athletes whose character and grit inspire all of us.

This year’s recipients are Matthew Campbell, an integral member of the baseball, football, and wrestling teams; and Olivia Adkins, an essential member of the varsity basketball and softball teams!

Congratulations, Matthew and Olivia!!! 🎉🎉🎉

HUGE THANKS to .pto and for furnishing tables, umbrellas, and Adirondack chairs for the outdoor classroom space!

Students and teachers are enjoying the space! Mr. Terrell’s World History students sat under the umbrellas to read and discuss some of the inventions of the last 50 years, Ms. Hackneys class used the inviting space to act out “The Cyclops” story from The Odyssey, and Coach Halla’s BSA class took advantage of the open air classroom to practice their speaking skills through a “speed speaking” activity.
