The inaugural Cahaba Heights United Methodist Church book club meeting was held today to discuss the book : Everything Is Tuberculosis by John Green. In a departure from his expected writing style, this is a book chronicling the past, present and projected future of the disease. We met Henry, a young man in Sierra Leone, and his family as they struggled with a disease that claims so many lives even to this day. The book brings to light how the ancient and also contemporary disease has shaped so much of our global culture and how extraordinarily differently it has been handled in different socioeconomic regions. We enjoyed lively discussions while snacking on tea, biscuits & other delicious light snacks. Plans for future books and meetings are to be announced.

Fascinating
Sometimes, the Library’s books are used so heavily, bound so poorly, or have become so fragile with age, that even normal, careful handling of them causes the books to fall apart. Here's how the Library's Conservation Division handles it: https://blogs.loc.gov/preservation/2024/01/preservation-fragments/?loclr=fbloc
