Swiss Wine Festival – Park Access & Boat Ramp Notice

Due to the setup for the Swiss Wine Festival, including tents and other equipment, please try to avoid driving through the park while workers are present. Gates will be closed and barricades will be in place to prevent through traffic.

Additionally, due to the recent flooding, the boat ramp is currently inaccessible. The dock is sitting in the middle of the ramp and cannot be moved back into position until the water recedes.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

📢 Vevay Police Department – School Zone Safety Reminder

As the new school year begins, the Vevay Police Department would like to remind all drivers to be extra cautious in and around school zones. Our priority is the safety of our children, parents, and school staff.

🚦 School Zone Speed Limits
Please remember that school zone speed limits are reduced during posted times when children are present:
—The posted times are 7:00am until 8:00am and from 2:45pm to 3:45pm.
-The Jeff Craig Elementary School to the Switzerland County School Administration Building is the school zone.
-There are big flashing lights on each end of the school zone.
-School Zone Speed Limit is 25 mph.

Even just a few miles per hour over the limit can drastically increase stopping distance and the risk of serious injury. Slow down, stay alert, and keep our students safe.

👀 Watch for Students
- Be alert for children who may cross the road unexpectedly.
- Never pass another vehicle stopped for pedestrians in a crosswalk.

🚗 Pick-Up & Drop-Off Safety Tips
- Follow your school’s traffic flow plan — it’s designed for safety.
- Stay off your phone while in the pick-up/drop-off line.
- Teach your child to enter and exit the vehicle on the passenger side only, away from traffic.

🛑 School Bus Laws
- When a school bus extends its stop arm, ALL traffic in both directions must stop unless there’s a divided highway.
- Never attempt to “beat” the bus — fines for violations are steep, and more importantly, the risk to children is severe.

👮‍♂️ Increased Enforcement
Officers from the Vevay Police Department will be conducting targeted patrols in school zones to ensure compliance with traffic laws and to keep our students safe.

The start of the school year is an exciting time — let’s work together to make it a safe one.
