We are excited to shine the Vidor ISD Spotlight on Vidor Elementary Pre-K teacher, Ms. Marie McDaniel!

Teaching Pre-K is a special calling that requires an extraordinary amount of patience, creativity, compassion, and heart! Ms. McDaniel does so much more than introduce students to letters, numbers, and shapes. As a PreK teacher she is often a child’s first experience with school, helping the them build confidence, develop social skills, discover their independence, and learn how to navigate a world outside their home. She builds the foundation for them to become lifelong learners. It takes a truly special person to make such a big difference in such little lives, and we are proud to recognize the dedication, love, and passion she brings to the classroom every day!

Honoring One of Our Own! 👏 Black Gold Pride

At last night's board meeting, Vidor ISD took a moment to recognize Terry Meulemans from our Maintenance Department!

When a gas leak occurred earlier this month, Terry moved quickly to safely isolate and stop the leak. While the high school ultimately had to be evacuated and dismissed as a safety precaution, Terry’s swift actions prevented a bad situation from becoming much worse and ensured everyone remained safe.

Superintendent Dr. Jay Killgo presented Terry with a Certificate of Appreciation to thank him for his dedication, responsiveness, and hard work for our district.

Please join us in thanking Terry in the comments below for looking out for our Pirate family! 💛🖤

🌾 Learning grew by leaps and bounds at Vidor Elementary! 🌾

Our students had a wonderful time hosting the team from Douget Rice Company for a special presentation on local agriculture!

The presentation took our kids on a journey from field to table, giving them a firsthand look at how rice is grown, harvested, and brought to our meals. The students were so curious and eager to learn, asking great questions about farming, local crops, and the hard work that goes into feeding our community. It helped our students appreciate the vital role agriculture plays right here in Southeast Texas.

Thank you to Douget Rice Company for taking the time to share your knowledge and passion with our school! 🚜🍚✨

Most importantly, she truly cares about our students. She understands that what we do is about so much more than serving meals—it’s about making our students feel welcomed, cared for, and valued.
