The interstate is now open.

🚨 TRAFFIC ALERT — I-24 WESTBOUND 🚨

I-24 Westbound at Mile Marker 9 is currently shut down due to a three-vehicle crash in the construction zone near the merge point.

🚧 Traffic is being diverted at Exit 14.
The closure is expected to last approximately 4 hours. Motorists should expect high traffic volumes, significant delays, and congestion in the area as traffic is diverted.

Motorists are encouraged to seek an alternate route if possible and use extreme caution when traveling through the area.

Please slow down and give emergency crews plenty of room to work.

We are constantly reminded of a shortage in mental health facilities in Illinois but we are closing Choate as more and more mentally ill homeless people wander our streets. It doesn’t make sense unless these services are going to be contracted out to private equity firms who might just be connected to certain billionaires. Hmmm! Follow the money!

***Update***
The highway department has completed their work. The road is back open.

A small sinkhole has been discovered in the area of 545 Hawkins Road.

The Johnson County Highway Department has been notified and is working to remedy the issue. Motorists who must travel through the area are urged to use caution. If possible, please seek an alternate route.

Motorists should also be advised that Hawkins Road may be closed at some point while crews address the problem.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Department will provide additional updates as more information becomes available.

Please slow down, use caution, and watch for highway department personnel and equipment in the area.

**TRAFFIC ALERT**
Crews are currently working a rollover accident on US 45 S / Indian Point Rd. The road will be shut down for a period of time. We will notify when the road is open again.

Both lanes have been opened for regular traffic.

**TRAFFIC ALERT**

US 45 South will be shut down for 3-4 hours, due to an accident that resulted in low hanging utility lines. We will update when it is reopened.
