This evening marked a significant milestone in the history of Meramec Ambulance District as we come together to celebrate our Groundbreaking Ceremony!

Following the devastating tornado that impacted our district and community, we have faced challenges, embraced change, and continued moving forward with one mission at the heart of everything we do: providing exceptional emergency medical services to the communities we proudly serve.

Tonight was more than breaking ground. It was about resilience, perseverance, partnership, and the unwavering dedication of those who make our district what it is.

🚒 To Chief Casey and Boles Fire Protection District: We extend our deepest gratitude for your incredible generosity and support. On the night of the tornado, you welcomed our on-duty crew into your station with open arms, providing them with a place to continue serving our communities. You have continued to stand beside us and provide a home for our crews ever since. Your kindness, hospitality, and partnership during one of our district’s most challenging times will never be forgotten. We are truly grateful for everything you have done and continue to do.

💙 To our dedicated employees: Thank you for your unwavering commitment to our district and the communities we serve. Throughout uncertainty, unexpected challenges, and changing circumstances, you have demonstrated remarkable resilience, professionalism, and adaptability. No matter what obstacles have been placed in your path, you have continued to answer the call and provide the compassionate, high-quality care our community deserves. Your dedication does not go unnoticed, and we could not be prouder of the individuals who represent Meramec Ambulance District every day.

🤝 To our Board of Directors: Thank you for your steadfast leadership, dedication, and continued support throughout this entire process. Your commitment to the future of our district, your guidance through difficult decisions, and your determination to see this project move forward have been instrumental in bringing us to this moment. We sincerely appreciate the time, effort, and care you invest in ensuring the continued success of our district.

As we broke ground this evening, we are reminded that while a building provides a place to call home, it is the people, partnerships, and shared commitment to service that truly make a district strong.

Tonight, we celebrated how far we have come, recognize those who have helped us along the way, and look forward with excitement to the future of Meramec Ambulance District.

From rebuilding after adversity to building for the future, our commitment to our community has never wavered.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout this journey. The best is yet to come! 💙🚑

When you call 911 in an emergency, one of the most important things dispatchers need to know is where you are. That can be easy if you’re at home — but what if you’re on a trail, at a park, or somewhere without a clear address?

That’s where the what3words app comes in. 🌎📱

The app divides the world into tiny squares, each with a unique three-word address. If you share those three words with the 911 dispatcher, it gives them your exact location — so first responders know exactly where to go. 🚑💨

This tool is especially helpful when:
✨ You’re in a rural area with no landmarks
✨ You’re traveling on back roads
✨ You’re in a large park or outdoor event space

It’s free, easy to download, and could make all the difference in an emergency.

We hope you’ll never need it — but if you do, know that our 911 partners can use what3words to send help straight to you, no matter where you are. 💙

During the month of September, Meramec Ambulance District responded to 420 calls for service throughout our community.

As we reviewed this month’s call volume, we also noticed an increase in calls involving behavioral and mental health concerns. September is recognized nationally as Su***de Prevention Month, making this an important opportunity to remind our community that mental health emergencies are real emergencies—and help is available.

Our crews respond to people on some of their most difficult days, and behavioral health calls are an important part of the care we provide. Whether someone is experiencing a mental health crisis, struggling with thoughts of su***de, or simply feels overwhelmed and unsure where to turn, reaching out for help can make a difference.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health or suicidal crisis, call or text 988 to connect with the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. If there is an immediate threat to life or safety, call 911.

As always, Meramec Ambulance District remains committed to serving our communities with compassion, professionalism, and care—every call, every patient, every day.

Meramec Ambulance District is pleased to share several significant updates as we continue moving forward with projects and equipment purchases made possible through community support and voter approval of Proposition A.

These investments represent an important step in strengthening our facilities, modernizing critical equipment, and ensuring our crews have the resources needed to continue providing high-quality emergency medical services to our community.

🏗️ Station Construction Projects
We are excited to announce that the District has secured a general contractor for the Station 2/ Administration Building in Villa Ridge, marking a major milestone in this project. A groundbreaking ceremony will be held on October 20, and we look forward to celebrating the beginning of this important investment alongside our community.

Additional details regarding the groundbreaking ceremony will be announced soon.

In addition, planning and preparation for our station improvement projects continue to progress, with renovations expected to begin in late 2026 or early 2027. More specifically, Station 1 in Pacific will begin its renovations late 2026/early 2027, with Station 3 in Robertsville to follow once Station 1 is complete.

🫁 New Ventilators
The bond funding approved with Proposition A is also supporting the replacement of aging medical equipment. Meramec Ambulance District is currently in the process of purchasing new transport ventilators to replace our existing ReVel ventilators, which have reached end-of-life status.

These new ventilators will provide our paramedics with modern, dependable technology for the treatment and transport of critically ill and injured patients who require advanced respiratory support.

These projects are more than facility upgrades and equipment purchases — they are investments in the future of emergency medical services throughout the Meramec Ambulance District.

We sincerely thank our residents for the trust and support that made these improvements possible. We remain committed to being responsible stewards of these funds and to keeping our community informed as each project continues to move forward.

This is an exciting chapter for Meramec Ambulance District, and we look forward to sharing each milestone with you along the way.

Severe bleeding can become life-threatening in just minutes. Knowing how to recognize it and take action while help is on the way can make a critical difference.

Here are 5 important steps to remember:

1️⃣ Find the Bleeding
Quickly locate where the bleeding is coming from and expose the injury so you can see the wound clearly. Look carefully for additional injuries that may be hidden by clothing.

2️⃣ Apply Firm, Direct Pressure
Use gauze, a clean cloth, or your hands to apply firm, steady pressure directly over the wound. Maintain continuous pressure and avoid repeatedly lifting the dressing to check the bleeding.

3️⃣ Secure a Pressure Dressing
Once direct pressure has slowed or controlled the bleeding, secure the dressing firmly in place with gauze or a bandage. If blood soaks through, add additional material on top rather than removing the original dressing.

4️⃣ Use a Tourniquet for Severe Limb Bleeding
For life-threatening bleeding from an arm or leg that cannot be controlled with direct pressure, a tourniquet may be necessary. Place it approximately 2–3 inches above the wound, avoiding joints, and tighten it until the bleeding stops. Once applied, do not loosen or remove it.

5️⃣ Call 911 & Continue Monitoring
For severe bleeding, activate 911 as soon as possible—or have someone else call while you provide care. Keep the person warm, continue watching their breathing and responsiveness, and maintain bleeding control until EMS arrives.

🚑 The actions taken in the first few minutes of a bleeding emergency can save a life.

Knowing these basic skills can help you stay prepared to help a family member, friend, coworker, or even a stranger when every second counts.

Be prepared. Take action. Stop the bleed.
