Tripp Narup for Iowa I'm a fiscal conservative. I believe in balancing the books.I balance the budget every year for the City of Villisca and am treasurer for three organizations.

That's why I'm running for Iowa House District 18: to fix the Iowa budget deficit.

Private schools that get public money should follow the same rules as public schools do. We need some accountability.

I think our school funding should at least keep up with inflation. That's pretty obvious.

A balanced budget is just basic common sense.

People who can't balance a budget don't belong in Des Moines. Just sayin'.

Zach Lahn is currently on Iowa Public Radio. He just said that Iowa's former surplus was the result of overtaxing Iowans. That's a simple and obvious lie. Iowa's surplus was the result of Federal COVID funding. Period.

He also said that the current deficit is the result of a downturn in the farm economy. Also a lie. The deficit is the direct result of the passage of the flat tax and the previous tax cuts in 2022. Those two things removed $1.5 billion per year from the state's revenues.

He also floated the myth that the deficit could be reduced or eliminated by the infamous "waste, fraud and abuse" approach.

We need a governor who actually knows something about our budget. I'd say that's Rob Sand for sure.
