Today is World Polio Day
When Rotary International began polio eradication efforts in the 1980s, there were over 180 countries with endemic polio and hundreds of thousands of cases yearly Today were down to 2 countries and fewer than 100 cases
We are close to eliminating this horrible killer from the world
Please join me in contributing to help create a polio-free world in our lifetime

Today we’re recognizing World Polio Day with our purple-iced sugar cookies! 💜🍪

Did you know that purple has a special meaning in the fight against polio? In many countries, children’s pinky fingers are marked with purple ink after receiving the polio vaccine, helping health workers keep track of who has been vaccinated!

We’re also recognizing Rotary International and our local Rotary members for their incredible dedication to helping eradicate polio around the world through the End Polio Now campaign! 🌎💜

💜 A big thank-you to Jenna’s Bakehouse for helping the Vincennes Rotary Club raise awareness for World Polio Day!

Jenna is honoring the day with purple iced cookies, and there’s a special meaning behind that purple! In some countries, health workers use purple dye on a child’s finger to mark that they’ve received the polio vaccine. 💜

Rotary has been fighting to eradicate polio worldwide for decades, and we are so close to making history! We appreciate Jenna helping us spread the word and support the fight for a world without polio. 🌎
